Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan is a transcontinental country with most of it being in Asia but the West being in Europe.

Kazakhstan is a big player in the oil and gas world and alongside its vast mineral resources is the majority of the economic growth in the country.

Kazakhstan may not be the first place you think of when you think of skiing but in fact it has some of the best ski resorts going. You can do hill to city skiing in  Almaty. You will also find that the hillside cafes are all pretty forward thinking and are all wifi equipped along with many other modern touches.

Kazakhstan has its very own version of the grand canyon and so a visit to Charyn Canyon is a must do on your trip. You can do it as a day trip from Almaty but it is a very long day.
